Proof that you do need new glasses

Pretty on the Inside... featuring Courtney Love's small nose FYI, my Courtney Love bio isn't just some music rag. It's a real book with lots of sources and older photos. You would have to see Courtney's old Jewish nose to believe it. Dunno how she came up with funds for that boob and nose job, but I know what I'm talking about. All it takes is one look at the cover of Pretty on the Inside.

When Courtney wasn't famous yet, she wanted Melissa Rossi (an award-winning journalist whose articles have appeared in Newsweek, Mademoiselle, Cosmopolitan, The New York Observer, and Spin) to write about her. Not surprisingly, the answer was no. So when Courtney became famous Melissa Rossi decided to come out with the bio anyway. Oh, and I didn't buy the book. My mom sent it to me without my asking. ;) About Celebrity Skin, I'm not out to change anyone's mind, but I still think it was great. It was the first Hole album written after Kurt died and lyrically Courtney was at another level there. If anyone were looking for something along the deranged lines of "Slut kiss girl, won't you promise her smack?", naturally they'd be disappointed.

Melissa Rossi's 'Courtney Love: Queen of Noise' Musicians aren't perfect. But they have their strengths. Like when the Eraserheads were really popular, people kept saying they were shit onstage, Ely's voice sucked or they weren't great guitarists. But their songs were gems, they really changed the musical landscape. Same goes for Hole, IMHO. And when it comes to name recall in this certain genre, d'you think people in general would immediately say Bikini Kill, or (oh I shudder to say it... not!) L7, or Babes in Toyland? Of couse not, they'd say Hole. The purists or the indie-cred conscious can say anything they want, but Hole broke through in a way the others never did. Hole evolved. Murky, raw, angsty, unlistenable music has its place, but for some people it gets old and tired quickly. Thank god some musicians go past that and grow up.

An aside: So if you're getting thicker glasses, you'll end up kinda looking like your fave awarded established mother-figure of a writer who delved into young adult fic some years ago. Right? ;) And am not really into censorship, so the new pic of Joan Crawford stays. ;)
