Peace and love and empathy
For no reason Imperial Teen's cool as hell 90's song You're One came to mind just now. You know that song that goes: "You're one, you're one/ It's with you I wanna be/ You're one, you're one/ Peace and love and empathy"... the last line coming from Kurt Cobain's suicide note. Then there's the line that goes: "You kiss me like a man, boy". The vocalist is male; apparently one of the band members is gay. That is, if they're still together. Yet another great band that never broke into the mainstream.
Oi I didn't say I enjoyed all the songs I listed in my previous post. It's just that poor me, they were in my last song syndrome playlist. Not my choice that John Mayer and friggin' Jewel were there. ;)
Ack, have I been a Friendster hypocrite lately or what? Have been in touch lately with a few classmates from grade school. Been swapping messages with the nicer ones. Apparently no one in JASMS knew what the hell happened to me after I left, after Grade 6. Heheh.
Around Grades 5 and 6 I was part of this trio of girls, this half-Japanese girl (aw, how =w=eezer-sounding, like "Goddamn you half-Japanese girls" in El Scorcho), this half-American girl whose last name's Gates, as in Bill Gates, then me. Anyway the half-American girl, who's friends with our dear Quasimodo, was having lunch with another grade school friend couple months ago and they were talking about me. Wonder why. But anyway, some of em found me in Friendster, and I haven't been warding them off. What the heck, right?
Oh, my Hudhud review is out in HerWord's Unwind - Theater section. Not very proud of it, but it's okay, I guess. It's titled "Striking a chord with the modern world." Haven't met the deadline for the online anthology, but it's not updated yet, so am still revising the crappy story I wrote back in 2001. Was counting the decent stories I have to date, and I only got 6. There are 2 stories I wrote that will never see the light of day, and there's one that I still need to thresh out, and there's this one I'm currently revising. I have to get cracking! I have 2 concrete story ideas aside from that. It's hard finding time to write. Have tons of pending work here in the office. Stress Stress Stress!!!
Hey, I'm not really into geeky looking guys. I like all sorts. Lemme see, my types go along the lines of:
1. Ewan McGregor
2. Tony Leung (Check out his interv from The Guardian; apparently Scorsese has been tapped to do a Hollywood remake of Infernal Affairs, with Brad Pitt to reprise Tony Leung's role. I didn't know Tony Leung was being compared to Johnny Depp! Both actors are cool, though.)
3. Mathieu Kassovitz
4. Christian Bale
5. Johnny Depp
I noticed these actors are from all over: Scotland, HK, France, the UK, and ye olde Hollywood. And I can't wait to see these films: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, 2046, Spiderman 2, the latest Batman starring Christian Bale, to be released next year, and I forget what else. Back to work!
