A slight tan, some landscape photos, and ass ache...
...are what I got from Zambales. Plus an essay idea, exposure to small town government politics for future story ideas, and a feast of local dishes. Fucking hell, when's Trent gonna stop that nefarious cawing?
Why ass ache? From sitting inside the pick-up for hours on the trip to Masinloc and back. My rents are going back Feb. 24-25 but I might pass up on it. It was great seeing nature up close again, and a brand new place is always welcome. The corral reefs, flying fish, the blue-green waters of the marine sanctuary are now in my memory. I dunno, travel never fails to bring my better writing ideas to the surface. But working hard to set those ideas down is another matter.
Am chuffed to see both Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray won the lead acting prizes in this year's BAFTAs for Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation. I loved that film. And Scarlett's only 19! She looks pretty mature; she credibly played a young 25-year-old wife there.
BTW it's my dog's birthday today. He's now four, in human years. Happy birthday, big dog! He deserves a treat when I get home. Maybe Burger King, or McDonald's? ;)
