Nga pala kagabi, I read more or less, 5 short stories. It's like renewing ties with a very old friend. It's been a long time since I read something of note. Kasi, I'm always watching something of note (for instance, natapos ko panoorin ang pelikula ni Jan Svankmajer na Conspirators of Pleasure... yeah, I'm namedropping. But, what the hell are you going to do about it? Chos!). Anyway, dahil sa aking pagbabasa kagabi, I've decided to leave the different message boards where I am a member of. O di ba? Ang cheap, pati ba naman message boards eh nandun ako. Ok lang din na hindi ako magkaron ng mga bagong pelikula in the coming months, siguro naman since I have more than 500 movies at my disposal eh ok na iyon (I'm not bragging, but it IS a fact). Naging sakit na kasi ito, at alam ni Ms. L iyon. Let me start at the beginning (san pa, di ba?), nung una kasi I really liked to have all the gialli that I could find. Now that I have 30 or so, I felt that I had to move on. Which I did. I ventured into different things, I got trashy movies (ie.. Bloodsucking Freaks, Raspberry Reich-- don't get this one, ang pangit niya. I swear, not even funny), and I also got european ones (Michael Haneke, Catherine Breillat, Mario Bava). However, there are times when I got so insatiable that when I got what I wanted, I still wanted more (classic case of greed, I know). For instance, I promised myself that I would stop trading if and when I got Mario Bava's Rabid Dogs. I got the movie, but the addiction did not stop. I told myself, hey! One of your trading buddies has Umberto Lenzi's Eyeball, isn't he a bad director? You have to get it! Which I did. But, I just had to have more. Frankly, I just had too much that there are, more or less, 70 or 80 movies back home which I haven't touched yet. So, right now, this addiction has to stop and I need to get back to reading and writing. But, of course, it had its merits as well. I mean, I learned a lot in writing and setting up scenarios. But, it takes up time as well. There are movies that you don't "get" in one viewing, and you tend to view them twice or thrice (and in case of horror flicks like... ahm... Dawn of the Dead, 5 times or Blood and Black Lace... Oh dear, I can't count the number of times I've seen this one... and then there's Dario Argento's Opera).
So, books, I'm back. I hope you missed me too. Sa susunod na sweldo, I will be heading to Booksale SM North.
P.S. I will just be wrapping up. Iyon lang, no elaborations needed.

lola when you go to booksale sm north (there are 2 branches here), lemme know para sabay tayo. wanna look for back issues of spin mag. good for you that you're back to reading and writing!
