Old age

The boys from Interpol show some fashion for the New York Times. Ready, get set, go!

Hi guys! Good to see some new posts. Hagrid, I know what you mean about old age. I've been going through this weird thing like when I learn a band or actor I like is younger than me, I kinda feel bad. For instance, I read a Spin interview of Diego Luna (co-star ni Gael Garcia Bernal sa Y Tu Mama Tambien) and thought he was younger, pero he was also born in 1979 and is about 2 months younger lang pala.

Also, when I learned Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand was 4 years older, I was relieved. When I learned Interpol's Paul Banks was just older than me by a year, I felt a little surprised, but relieved. Weird, no? My sister attributes it to you know, feeling bad that people younger than us are waaay more successful than we could ever imagine to be. It's true. She also says it's something most of us eventually go through. It's inevitable that tons of people out there are gonna be younger than us. There's that Smashing Pumpkins song 1979 that made me kinda feel special (cos it's my birth year), but now if you look at MTV's VJs for instance, invariably these are all children born in the 80's. Hindi lang tayo ang bida. It's so strange! I'm old. Waah!

What else? Oh, it's not like I experience rheumatism or arthritis or anything, but now I can't survive on little sleep like I used to. My bones aren't creaking yet. But when I was studying and a couple years after graduating, I could survive on 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night. Now it takes me ages to get out of bed in the morning, and so am invariably late. Tumatanda na ko. Like my metabolism isn't what it used to be. When I was in high school I could eat a whole foot-long subway tuna sandwich, now it takes me ages to finish the 6" one. Anyway, am rambling already. Have a good holy week, guys, and good luck on the writing!
