Congrats to friends who won in the Palancas this year. There might be hope for the Palanca mafia yet. The winners are: our very own Hagrid (3rd place, full-length play in Filipino, also won 3rd place in the Filipino one-act play years ago), Paul (Hello! 3rd place, fiction in English), Joel Toledo (my sister's friend, fellow bookseller, 2nd place, poetry in English), and Winton (friend from the Iligan workshop, 1st place, fiction in Hiligaynon). Astig! Mabuhay kayo.
Hung out last night with a couple friends and am now learning to look at the Palancas as the carnival of a contest that it is and not take losses too personally. Finished 3 new poems, plan to write a few more and have em published.
Joel, your brother Lito texted me today asking for help cos he was here in Magsaysay applying at Norwegian Cruise Lines. But am connected with HRM and we deal with the landbased employees' concerns. Am not connected to manning and recruitment here. You gave your brother my number? Hoy, ano nangyari sa yo lately? Wala akong nare-receive na text sa yo, no!
Nakakatamad lately dito, sobra. But am mightily fighting this stupid torpor, believe me.
