Heheh. Kidding! But the pics here and on your EasyJournal blog make me wanna avoid the sites like the plague! ;) As I'm posting this, I'm viewing/editing a heap of pics on CDs for yet another seafarers' brochure. Multi-tasking!
Have you ever heard of the kooky Scottish band Bis? They sang the Powerpuff Girls theme (Fighting crime/ Trying to save the world/ Here they come just in time/ The Powerpuff Girls!). And also appeared in MTV Alt Nation way back with that song "Kandy Pop" (Sugar sugar kandy pop/ Just don't let the music stop!). Dunno why they came to mind just now. And I just found out they split up last year, after 9 years together. Such is the fate of tons of indie bands. Didn't know they're just a couple years older than me. They used such kewl names: Manda Rin, Sci-Fi Steven, John Disco. Or something to that effect. After the riot grrl frenzy of "Kandy Pop", I heard their lo-fi, groovy "Detour" in NU 107 before.
I got an email from my online friend Christy (we've been writing since circa 1996 or so; we "met" at a silverchair list). She said I looked timeless in my pics and that my musical tastes seem stuck in 1996. Well, kinda, I guess. I mean, can you believe the crap you hear on the radio these days, and the even crappier cut-and-paste "artists" on MTV. At the risk of sounding fogeyish, well, no thanks. I'd rather stick to the music I love. I still get into newish bands sometimes-- The Strokes, or Coldplay. Being a music habitue can be so expensive! You usually can't help but grow with an artist or band, and so buy (or burn? heheh) their new CDs... or their greatest hits.
Alrighty then! Will be on leave Friday. Hey, if you wanna go drinking this Friday but you're on a budget, let's just join Marby, Sandra, Paul etc. at Marby's condo in Katips. Paul will be bringing wine. They said it's okay if we join them. We can leave early if you want and still go drinking elsewhere.
Madame Jaclyn, if you're reading this, you have to update your blog more often. Cos your posts are hilarious! See you around...
