Movie Meme from sandwichspy (I placed links, you may be interested in getting them in the future... which isn't so bad, these ARE great movies... Well, except for the Joe D'Amato ones)
The reason why I liked/hated the movie will be posted by tomorrow (for the ones I haven't finished yet).
Total number of films I own on DVD, VCD, LD, and VHS: The total movies I own? I have 624 dvds which are in DVDaficionado. And, I have about 10 or so movies which are not in DVD aficionado. I have a few VHS movies and VCD movies. But, they’re so few (around 30 or so).
The last films I bought: Well, Peter Greenaway’s Pillow Book. I really didn’t like it the first time I saw it (which was 8 years ago, but I couldn’t pass up buying a Greenaway movie that I lapped it up). A boxed set of Russ Meyer’s movies (Immoral Mr. Teas, Cherry, Harry & Raquel!, Lorna, Common Law Cabin, Mondo Topless), and Todd Solondz’s Palindromes(which was not as great as Welcome to the Dollhouse, but it was good as it is).
Five films which I watch a lot: Gamera 3 (because I always wanted to destroy Makati City, the destruction that was wrought on Shibuya in the movie, I’d like to do the same to Makati), La Femme Nikita(I saw this way back in Grade 6... there was something in Nikita that I can relate to so much... How much atonement can you do to pay for past transgressions?), Dario Argento’s Inferno(I liked it because it didn't make any sense, and in the end, it made sense!), and John Waters’ Desperate Living (Because it was funny as hell, and the lines were killer!).
Naku, kulang pala to. Pakidagdag naman ng Gojira (Original Japanese Version) (the first Monster movie na walang hero hero monster, at least we get to see a monster destroy everything!)
And five more... Kim Ki-duk’s Samaria (I really can't begin to describe the beauty of this movie), Werner Herzog’s Even Dwarfs Started Small (Herzog's political allegory about misfits who should still have a place in the world), Mario Bava’s The Girl Who Knew Too Much (the harbinger of the first true giallo, that should be Bava’s Blood and Black Lace, which is a good movie on its own… I liked this one, because it was a playful take on the giallo template), Peter Greenaway’s The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, & Her Lover (this was my first exposure to a Greenaway flick, it was a good one though… I liked the way he composed his shots and well, you have a great script to go with it), and George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead (I love lumbering zombies, most people would think that his portrayal of the “human condition” and his metaphors are a little bit heavy handed, but I liked the fact that he used zombies to do it).

Five films that mean a lot to me: Strait-Jacket (this was the Ms. Crawford movie that I still come back to, it's somehow a movie that is part of her downfall, but I love her here because she really does know how to put on a show), Piano Teacher (I would like to say that perverts still fall in love), Ms. 45 (I loved it because it’s an anti-exploitation exploitation movie… ), Organ ( A really wet and dirty horror movie... Too sublime and intelligent for gorehounds, but it's too low for pa-pretensiyosa, kasi it's horror daw!), Welcome to the Dollhouse (Dawn, are you a lesbo? I can relate to this movie because I felt like Dawn when I was in Grade School, except I was not a lesbian...Although, I wanted to be. And I still want to be a lesbian.... This smacks of South Park-- I was first though!).
Naku kulang din pala ako dito, pakidagdag ng The Strike ni Sergei Eisenstein. As an employee/worker, we really need a revolution!

And ten more... Requiem for a Dream (Arronofsky’s anti-drug drug movie shows us what will happen if we get addicted to our dreams, and then some), Santa Sangre(Alejandro Jodorowsky’s homage to Psycho, greatly entertaining, don’t expect some high hat message or the secrets of the universe here though), Last Life in the Universe (I hated it when people compare Pen Ek Ratanaruang to Wong Kar Wai, I don’t mean to belittle Wong’s contribution to world cinema, but I think he hasn’t made anything more subtle than this movie… Come to think of it, there are no Wong Kar Wai’s in this list!), What Time Is It There?(Tsai – Ming Liang’s song to loneliness and aloneness amidst the crowds), Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (killings galore!), Lee Chang-Dong's Oasis (Korea has this gift for creating dramas that teeter on melodrama, but it can still move me), Stendhal Syndrome (Argento’s rape-transference movie. Seemed like an ode to Brian de Palma, but it isn’t. This one could have been better though, but well, there is room for one more fractured genius in the world), Baise Moi (I liked wanton killing of Men!!! I wish I could join them), Conspirators of Pleasure (this is a porn movie ala stop motion animation, Svankmajer is like God, you know), Hatchet for the Honeymoon (this seemed like American Psycho circa 1960’s)
Guilty pleasures, or bad movies (they’re so bad, but they’re so good… I love them! they won't exactly win awards, but they show people how to do movies to offend!) (tinamad na ko gumawa ng links for these movies, leche, just go to http://www.allmovie.com. puta!)
Antropophagous - IN fairness, when I got this, I was expecting wall to wall splatter. It wasn't. Even the much maligned fetus eating scene was very much tame(!!!) to me.

Beyond the Darkness - This whacked out movie I bought in Quiapo is really full of perversity (necrophilia, perverse sex, cannibalism, et al), there were some inande dialogues, but that's what makes it more distrubing (to me, at least).
House by the Cemetery – While Fulci has always been a gorehound, this movie still manages to tell a story (which is a nice surprise!) and keeps the gore intact!
Cannibal Ferox – I pity the turtle which got decapitated. This was in response to Ruggero Deodato’s Cannibal Holocaust (in fairness, Lenzi started this cannibal in the middle of the jungle movies with Mangiati Vivi). I disliked Deodato’s movie because it had this pretentious air about it, which I didn’t like. At least, Lenzi had the audacity to actually call his movie an environmental movie (!!!).
Desperate Living – Z grade production, and as I have already mentioned, killer lines, what is there not to like?
Pink Flamingos – For sheer historical significance, I included it here. One scene tops every other scene. And where do you get to see a singing bunghole (I’m not kidding here), and a tacked on ending where Divine eats real dog shit (promise, di ako nakakain ng napanood ko ito).
Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! – I have been mystified with Russ Meyer’s movies. The women have big breasts, and a frenetic action. Although, this was an old movie, the women look so modern?
Bloodsucking Freaks – Women activists should not have taken this movie so seriously. I have seen it , but my feminazist sensibility was not violated in any way. In a nutshell, it’s about Sardu and his Theater of Pain. Is the staged torture for real or not? Find out!
Evil Dead 2- Sam Raimi’s reworking of the first Evil Dead. Funnier this time around, and horrifying.
Eyeball (Gatti Rossi in un Labirinto di Vetro) – Lenzi’s much maligned giallo. It’s actually great. Not really too mysterious (you get to guess the killer in about ahm… 3 guesses. Your first suspect is usually it). You’d laugh your head thinking about the motivation of the killer. And what a motivation it was!
10 Movies which I really hate with a passion (which isn't technically 10):
Tromeo and Juliet ( I remember watching Toxic Crusader back in Grade School, and back then I thought whoever was working for Troma were geniuses... Except, when I grew old, I found out how really bad it was... Not even funny!)
Darkness Falls (Kill! Kill everyone in this movie and everyone who had a hand in making it!)
Any Bruce La Bruce flick (so, that makes three that I own... Not funny, whoever has crowned him as the heir apparent to John Waters' throne can't be any more wrong...)
Dead and Breakfast (I frigging hate Hillbilly horror, I think this is the reason why I hate this Eliza Dushku movie... I keep
forgetting what it was, but it was about Hillbilly cannibals, so damned entertaining... Barf!)
Frisk (I hated the Dennis Cooper book, but I hated this movie... Where the hell are the german pederasts who eat boys(no pun intended, I mean, they eat them literally)? I mean, where the hell are they?)
Black Sun: The Nanking Massacre (It was meant to be an anti-Japan sentiment, but how can it be convincing when everything seemed so black and white?)
Run 2 U - This korean movie is, by far, the stupidest Japan-Korea collaboration. I remember it for being so horrendous (and yeah, we have a Mariah Carey lookalike as a starlet who wants to be a singer... sounds familiar?).
Any Gil Portes movie (nangunguna na dito ang Homecoming, na saksakan ng pangit… for the life of me, halos lahat ata ng pelikula ni Gil Portes ay saksakan talaga ng pangit… care ko kung sabihin nilang award winning)
Can this be love? (I only have so much hate for Sandara Park)
Any filipino horror movie riding the Asian Horror wave (so this doesn't include, of course, the ones made in the 80s)
By the way, I would like to tag Allan, Bernice, Ate Len, Yvette, and anyone who wants to swipe this shit.
