Running with scissors

A typical scene from Chungking Express, one of my all-time fave films.

God, someone obliterate Friendster off this planet, please!

I can't work! My output here in the office has plummeted since I started blogging and using Friendster. [After a few seconds and having sobered a bit...] I know I shouldn't blame these online distractions. I should just exercise self control. I am totally aware how fucking vain the whole practice of blogging is. In truth, I much prefer writing in a journal cos my thoughts there are honest and no one's supposed to read what's in there except me.

This, on the other hand, I dunno... who the hell came up with the idea of keeping an online journal, anyway?! It's so vain! It's so fake! It's so self indulgent! It would be so much more productive to get into the thick of real life and write and publish stories.

[Bernice's alter ego has officially wigged out in the workplace.]

Today I wasted my time yet again looking up old schoolmates, officemates, and acquaintances in Friendster. I've really been contemplating this. What if I steel myself from using Friendster for at least a week? Let those bulletin board messages stay unread. Let the messages and new testimonials pile up. I won't die if I don't check Friendster for a week, right?

Click to read a Chungking Express review. Okay this experiment (or challenge?) is officially on! I will only return to Friendster when I will need to post that bulletin board message about our upcoming book/music/video sale.

Joel, in fairness, the Mansun CD you got had loads of good reviews in Amazon and is apparently an import. Cool, eh? Uy balik tayong Quiapo minsan pag magkatugma ulit sked natin. In the meantime, if you happen to pass by the DVD piles there, would you keep an eye out for these DVDs? (They're not too hard to find, I hope.) Promise to pay you back. Thanks!

1. Punch Drunk Love
2. The Virgin Suicides
3. Chungking Express (After you get your own copy, of course)
4. The Wild Thornberrys movie (But only get a clear copy with special features; na-trauma na kasi ako)
5. A Beatles concert or rockumentary on DVD

Beatles ha, hindi Mariah. ;)
